Ashley's Testimony
I grew up in Middlesboro, KY, where I encountered challenges with drugs and alcohol from a
young age.
By the time I reached high school, substance abuse had become a significant part of
my life. Unfortunately, I fell in with the wrong crowd, and at just 13, I found myself
experimenting with alcohol. From there, my addiction escalated, leading me to rely heavily on
prescription pain medication by the age of 18.
This marked the beginning of a downward spiral
that included brushes with the law and a dangerous involvement with methamphetamine.
In 2014, I faced serious consequences when I was charged with manufacturing
methamphetamine and subsequently sentenced to prison. Although I was released in 2017, I
struggled to maintain sobriety and soon found myself battling heroin addiction alongside
methamphetamine abuse. It wasn’t until my family intervened and introduced me to Hope City
in Barbourville that I experienced a profound transformation.
In 2021, I embraced a new beginning as the Lord found and saved me. His presence has granted
me a sense of peace regarding my past struggles, allowing me to move forward with hope and
gratitude. Today, I am deeply blessed with a supportive church family and a fulfilling job at
Hope City, where I am committed to helping others on their journey to recovery.
